Our slogan for the 2008-2009 year is one that builds upon the OI International slogan, "Give Me Five For Kids" selected by President Don Sievers. This slogan embodies that which we pan to achieve throughout this year. What is our Atlantic Central District slogan?
ALIVE WITH FIVE FOR KIDS!
ALIVE WITH FIVE FOR KIDS captures our five goals for the year. Each club is asked to do its best to attain ALL five (5) goals.
Goal #1 Each club will complete a minimum of five projects, one of which is the Oratorical Contest. Imagine the excitement of so many young people giving their orations on May 30, 2009 at the Hilton Garden Inn in Fort Washington, PA.
Goal #2 Five members of each club, one of which is the club president (or designee) will be in attendance at each District meeting and the 2009 Convention. What a time of fun and fellowship that will be had each time that we gather from October 1, 2008 through September 30, 2009!
Goal # 3 This goal is the only goal that does not contain the number 5. Thirteen (13) new clubs will be built, one per Zone. Now this means that even more clubs in even more communities will exist to Bring Out The Best in over 10,000 additional kids in our District.
Wow!!
(4) Five new JOOI clubs will be built, in order to provide additional leadership opportunities for our children at the elementary, middle and high school levels. This means that even more kids will have opportunities to be involved in positive projects and utilize their leadership skills.
(5) Every club will end the year on September 30, 2008 with a net five in membership over the October 1, 2008 membership level.
No doubt every Optimist Club wants to grow so that there will be more hands to assist with current and future projects to serve even more kids!
Because we are Optimists, no doubt every Atlantic Central Club will exceed these goals. Yes, WE CAN.
So join with me in insuring that from now through September 30, 2009, we are ALIVE WITH FIVE FOR KIDS!!
With Great Optimism and Gratitude,
Governor Maxcine
